In the team’s final regular season game of the year, the Wisconsin Badgers headed to Minnesota and emerged victorious over the Golden Gophers with a 28-14 win, securing Paul Bunyan’s Axe in the process. The game was a positive end to an up and down season and further strengthened their case for a favorable bowl game.
The offense was firing on all cylinders, as senior quarterback Tanner Mordecai and junior running back Braelon Allen were playing in what could be their last regular season games in Badger uniforms. Mordecai finished the game with 145 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. While Allen ran all over the Golden Gophers, amassing 165 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, the Badgers were a force to be reckoned with, securing key stops and turnovers that thwarted Minnesota’s offensive aspirations. The team allowed under 300 yards of offense and had two turnovers, including an interception late in the fourth quarter to effectively end the game.
With the win, the Badgers finished the regular season with a 7-5 record. Wisconsin players and fans eagerly anticipate the team’s bowl game destination, hopeful that the Badgers can cap off the season with a major victory.
