Census Bureau Projected Business Formations Show Future Growth

In November 2023, there were 464,838 new business applications in the U.S., a 1.6 percent decrease from October 2023 according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s recent report. Of these applications, the census bureau is projecting that 29,649 businesses will form within four quarters of their application date, a 3.2 percent increase from October 2023. 

While small business applications have declined by 0.6 percent since last month in the Midwest, the Census Bureau is projecting that 4,793 new businesses will form in the region within four quarters of their application date.

Wisconsin bill would limit local control over animal welfare

A Republican bill would bar local governments from implementing stricter rules than the state already imposes regarding animal welfare, the administration of medications and vaccinations and how animals are used at or after they leave a farm or facility.
