Job Openings Increase in September

According to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 10.7 million job openings in September which is 437,000 more jobs than August. In the Midwest, job openings increased by about 150,000 between August and September to a total of 2,325,000. 

Total separations, which includes quits, layoffs, and discharges, dropped by 370,000 to 5.7 million. Furthermore, the national quit rate, or the number of quits during a month as a percentage of the total of employed individuals held steady at 2.7 percent for the third straight month. 

These numbers show growing retention rates of American jobs and are a good sign for a healthy economy.

Unions file lawsuit challenging Wisconsin Act 10

A group of unions representing public employees including teachers filed a lawsuit on Thursday challenging Wisconsin Act 10, which stripped collective bargaining rights from most public employees in the state.
