Jobs Numbers Continue to Exceed Expectations in February

The United States’ labor market continued to show signs of strength in February 2024, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Total nonfarm employment increased  by 275,000 jobs, outpacing January’s increase of 229,000, according to the report. Unemployment has remained below four percent for more than two years, reaching 3.9 percent in February. 

In February, the healthcare sector added 67,000 jobs; government employment increased by 52,000 jobs; and food services added 42,000 jobs. The social assistance sector added 23,000 jobs while the construction industry added 23,000 jobs.
