Rents in Madison Edge Downward

According to a recent report on rent prices by Zumper, rents in Madison decreased by about six percent in the last 12 months, reaching $1,251 a month for a one-bedroom apartment. Rent prices continue to be about 23 percent below the national median of $1,496 for a one-bedroom apartment as of December 2023. 

Rent prices are expected to remain steady heading into the first quarter of 2024 and major economic indicators like unemployment and inflation are decreasing.

Wisconsin bill would limit local control over animal welfare

A Republican bill would bar local governments from implementing stricter rules than the state already imposes regarding animal welfare, the administration of medications and vaccinations and how animals are used at or after they leave a farm or facility.
