In a game that was largely lacking offensive production on both sides, the Wisconsin Badgers lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes 15-6 as they moved to 4-2 on the season. To add insult to injury, Badgers starting quarterback Tanner Mordecai also suffered a broken hand in the loss and is out indefinitely following successful surgery.
It was an ugly afternoon, with the Iowa style of play on full display. The bulk of their offensive production came from the running game, as Hawkeyes quarterback Deacon Hill only completed six passes for 37 yards. And across both teams, only one touchdown was scored all afternoon – an 82 yard run from Iowa running back Leshon Williams in the second quarter.
Wisconsin was in the game heading into the 4th quarter, trailing only by one. But following two field goals and a safety, Iowa took a 15-6 lead that they never relinquished. The game featured 15 punts, and the placekickers on both teams were the highest scoring players.
The Badgers will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday, October 21st as they head to Champaign for a Big 10 West matchup with the Illinois Fighting Illini.
